ABOUT US
Gamblers & Gaming Support Society, Pictou County Chapter was founded in Stellarton, Nova Scotia in 2020. We are a non-profit Society. We are a small team of volunteers who have struggled with a gambling or gaming addiction. We are not professional health care providers but we do know a lot about gambling and gaming and the harms associated with these addictions. Our research has allowed us to compile an extensive resource listing on the topic. Some of our resources are available within Nova Scotia, however, some are only available through the internet.
We acknowledge that without the generous financial support from the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia we would never have been able to do our latest project. We are very appreciative and thankful for their support. We take this new opportunity very seriously. Please visit our DONATE page to make your donation to them.
In response to the Nova Scotia Student Gaming Crisis, we realize that it is our mission to share our resources. We have decided to reach out to students and their support systems through a dynamic comic book. The content and spectacular graphics will tell the real life experiences of some of the Nova Scotian students who had or are still struggling with a gaming addiction. This Comic Book will include a complete Resource Guide listing. All 15,000 copies will be distributed to students and the youth support systems throughout Nova Scotia free of charge. Our small team of volunteers can't do this alone. If you would like to help out, please reach out to us and lend a helping hand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Our team of volunteers realize the urgency to respond to the Student Gaming Addiction Crisis in Nova Scotia prior to the publication of the Gaming Crisis Comic Book and Resource Guide. As a result, we have taken the initiative to organize an Information on Gaming Forum on Thursday, December 7, 2023 to educate students, who are struggling, and all those who care for them. This Forum will feature presentations on the harms of a gaming addiction, the role the gaming industry plays, Mental Health and Addiction's approach to dealing with the Student Gaming addiction, and resources that are available within Nova Scotia. Due to our privacy and anonymity policies, we will not stream or record this event. This will be an in person event only. This will be a free event and there will be no fee to attend.
Please visit our events page for details about the Forum. More events may be added on our events page at a later date.
